The Republican base is already gearing up for a close election in the coming year and Former President Donald Trump recently made an appearance on the Real America’s Voice program Friday morning, where he suggested that Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida should end his presidential bid if he wants to unify the Republican Party.

This has left many people wondering what this means for the party moving forward.

In his interview with American Sunrise, Trump said “I think he has to get out for the good of the party. He could have waited, and he would have been odds-on favorite for ’28, but he didn’t do that. I got him elected. If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t be governor; he’d be working in a law office right now or doing whatever he was going to do.”

It is no secret that back in 2018 Trump had campaigned heavily for DeSantis when he ran for governor, with the AP reporting, “DeSantis…was considered an underdog before Trump tweeted his support…and came to Florida two more times to propel him past Democratic Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum in the final days of the election.”

Furthermore, after his reelection last year by nearly 20 points – which is historic modern times in a state that has moved solidly to the right – Trump stated “He was losing at a level you would never even believe possible. I even said ‘I don’t think that if George Washington came back from the dead, if Abraham Lincoln came back from the dead, I don’t think they could help you Ron, you’re dead.'”

Trump continued:

“I endorsed him, and he ended up winning easily, and then we got him past the general election, running a then-very hot candidate who Ron didn’t think we could beat, but we beat him. And then three years later they ask him a question, ‘are you gonna run against the president,’ and he said ‘I ahve no comment.’ And I said ‘wait a minute, did he say he has no comment? That means he’s running.’”

A new report indicates that Murdoch media empire – which includes Fox News, New York Post, Wall Street Journal and other outlets – has begun souring on Governor Ron DeSantis as his campaign stalls and lays off personnel.

As reported by Rolling Stone magazine citing sources within Murdoch world of companies, patriarch Rupert Murdoch himself has been involved in discussions expressing concerns about DeSantis especially after declaring official entry into presidential race pointing out his awkward public demeanor and unsuccessful attempts to connect with American voter.

The magazine further revealed that “[Rupert’s] understandable worry is that we may end up being stuck with Trump anyway…And DeSantis is underperforming. Anybody can see that….they’re seeing it too”.
