Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has always been a warmonger, so his reaction to the Russians knocking one of our drones out of the sky was not really surprising.
Graham suggested we start attacking Russian fighter jets in response.
Fox News’ Tucker Carlson has a fairly heated response to the suggestion.
Blow Them Out of the Sky
It is easy to talk a tough game when you don’t have any skin the game.
Graham did serve in the Air Force, but he served as a member of the Judge Advocate General Corps and never saw a battlefield, yet he regularly tries to find ways to put our troops at risk when it is not needed.
To that point, after our drone was clipped and crashed into the ocean, Graham responded, “Well, we should hold them accountable and say that, ‘If you ever get near another U.S. asset flying in international waters, your airplane will be shot down.'”
Graham continued, “What would Ronald Reagan do right now? He would start shooting Russian planes down if they were threatening our assets.”
Now, I am not saying we should be letting our drones get taken out by Russians in international airspace, but starting a war over a drone is not exactly my idea of reasonable thinking.
Tucker Carlson responded to Graham’s claim, stating, “What would Ronald Reagan do? Oh, good question, Senator Graham.
“Ronald Reagan’s two-term presidency was notable for the fact that he did not declare war on the Russian air force and therefore the United States did not go to war with Russia and millions of lives were saved as a result.
“That’s not a small thing.”
Let’s be realistic about this…
Thanks to dumping most of our supplies off in Ukraine, the United States is not in any shape to get into an armed conflict with Russia.
There is also the issue that our branches are severely understaffed right now and unable to recruit to fill the holes.
I would say Graham should temper his words before he puts us in a no-win situation.
