Mister Rogers was way ahead of his time, it turns out.
A couple of videos of Mister Rogers have resurfaced that are pretty interesting.
It was a bit of a scandal related to a song that Mister Rogers sang on one of his shows.

I am not sure what inspired Mister Rogers to sing this song, but it is pretty clear what the subject matter was about…

Rogers then went on Johnny Carson to discuss the song.
He was clearly being mocked by Johnny, and the audience literally laughed at him.
However, he made the point we have made here, that children are very susceptible to suggestion, so we have to be careful exactly what we suggest to them…
Mister Rogers knew something way back in 1980 and tried to warn us. We laughed at him because we thought what he said was silly and nonsense.

Now, this was back in the 1980s, yet here we are today fighting off drag shows for children and gender affirming surgery for kids that are not even teenagers yet.
