Secretary Buttigieg has been more a climate change cheerleader than a transportation czar for Biden.

His lack of experience has been exposed in recent weeks with a horrific response to the Ohio train derailment.

Buttigieg just got some additional bad news in that an Inspector General investigation has been launched regarding his travel habits.

Going Private

So, let’s be clear in that there are definitely times when Buttigieg would need to travel private to get to a location as soon as possible.

For instance, had he used an FAA jet from the government fleet to go to Ohio the day of the derailment, no eyebrows would have been raised.

However, when Buttigieg is hitting up multiple states in a single day to tout Joe Biden’s climate agenda, well, I think people will have a problem with that.

Records show that Buttigieg has tapped the private jet fleet at least 18 times since he has been in office.

Americans for Public Trust (APT) executive director Caitlin Sutherland stated, “After Americans for Public Trust helped determine Secretary Buttigieg’s excessive use of taxpayer-funded government jets, we are pleased to see that his air travel is now under investigation.

“Everyday Americans have faced unprecedented flight cancelations and disruptions, but Buttigieg has continued to fly private, even on a Coast Guard plane and even when commercial options were readily available.”

The most notable use of the fleet came when Buttigieg was barnstorming for Biden’s “Building a Better America Tour.”

This appeared to be more campaign related, with Buttigieg traveling to the battleground states of Florida, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Ohio, Nevada, and New Hampshire.

The DOT, as expected, says that Pete did nothing wrong.

The agency stated, “We welcome this independent audit moving forward in order to put some of the false, outlandish, and cynical claims about the Secretary’s mode of travel to rest.

“The fact remains that he flies commercially the vast majority of the time.

“The exceptions have been when the Department’s career ethics officials, who have served under both Democratic and Republican administrations, determined that the use of a 9-seat FAA plane would be either more cost effective or should be approved for exceptional scheduling or security reasons.”

Notice the mention of “exceptional scheduling,” which would likely include that barnstorming tour.
