ICYMI – Antony Blinken is in big trouble now, Jonathan Turley declared. Joe Biden’s Minister of State is facing a “very serious” allegation. In fact, the legal scholar points out, “you couldn’t have anything more serious.” Hanging around with Hunter Biden was bad. Lying about it to congress was much, much worse.

Blinken involvement serious

On Monday, May 1, Jonathan Turley dropped by the Fox News studios to enlighten their audience on an issue facing top diplomat Antony Blinken. The charges leveled by distinguished conservative Republican Senator Ron Johnson accuse Blinky of lying to Congress.

He denied having any connection at all to Hunter Biden during his confirmation hearings. Recently surfaced emails show he did. An unofficial one, using his private email account and his wife, Evan Ryan, as a “cutout.

That, Turley explained, is “very serious.” People don’t realize that it’s a hefty “crime to lie to Congress.” Not only that, Blinken “did this in the course of becoming a cabinet member. So you couldn’t have anything more serious than this allegation in terms of wrongdoing in the sense that it is a federal crime.

One thing about Turley is he’s not afraid to voice his opinion. It’s up to the Senator to follow through. “So we’re going to have to see if Johnson can stick the landing.

There’s a pretty good chance that Johnson will indeed make his charges stick. He “seems quite confident that there was no equivocation that this was an outright false statement made to Congress by Secretary Blinken.

What Johnson told Maria Bartiromo on Sunday is that “he believes Blinken lied under oath in December 2020.” There is no way the relationship could have “slipped his recollection.” He never expected Hunter Biden’s email account to go public.

Congress has the emails

The biggest problem for Blinken is his flat-out absolute denial of the truth under oath. If the Senate had been aware he was giving “advice” to Hunter Biden about how to get along better with his new Ukrainian gas company employer.

Burisma was paying a million a year to him and his partner Devon Archer for doing next to nothing. Blinky also was trying to make friends with the lobby firm Burisma used.

Most of the communication between Hunter Biden and Tony Blinken went through Evan Ryan. Once in a while, though, Hunter used Blinky’s insecure AOL account.

Blinky swore up and down, under oath, that “he did not email Hunter Biden, and now we have those emails. We also know that his wife, using her private email address when she was a[n] employee of the State Department, was basically a conduit between her husband and Hunter Biden as well. So, again, I think there’s so much more to uncover here. There’s so much more investigation. He needs to be subpoenaed.

Johnson might not have subpoena power but he has friends who do. It would be a whole lot easier for everyone if Blinken were to come in voluntarily.

Until he does, Johnson warns that Tony and his wife better “preserve their records, their personal emails.” By the time they finally get to the bottom of it, he promises, “we need to show how corrupt these individuals are.
