Vocally conservative senators Ron Johnson and Charles Grassley are convinced that Antony Blinken “lied to Congress” when he denied knowing a thing about Hunter Biden’s gig at Ukrainian gas giant Burisma. While his dad was gallivanting around Kiev as Vice President, Hunter and his buddy Devon Archer were each being paid a million bucks a year to sit on Burisma’s board and do nothing but bend Joe’s ear on a few things. Blinky lied because emails show he was passing along some helpful “advice” at the time to Hunter, through a private back-channel email account. And through his wife.
Blinken lied to Congress
Antony Blinken is really happy that it’s his equally compromised buddy Merrick Garland who would decide how much prison time he deserves for perjury. Lying to Congress is good for up to five years behind prison bars. Before the senators can get any real justice, Garland needs to be replaced first. That may happen.
Grassley and Johnson wrote a nasty note to Blinky advising him that “emails from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop as well as additional records assembled by legislative investigators cast doubt on Blinken’s professed ignorance of Hunter’s role on Burisma’s board.” In fact, they add, the emails show Blinky was “trying to connect” with Burisma’s U.S. lobbyists. That’s what the old flicks like to call a smoking gun.
“Your statement to Congress that you did not email Hunter Biden is clearly not true and calls into question the veracity of your entire December 22, 2020 testimony,” the distinguished senior Senators wrote to Blinken on Tuesday, May 2.

“Specifically, you denied having any awareness of Hunter Biden’s association with the corrupt Ukrainian gas company Burisma Holdings.” They reminded the secretary that “lying to Congress is a crime punishable by up to five years in prison.”
Besides another failed Saigon-style bug-out from Sudan and powerful world diplomats who scoff at him, Blinken “was exposed April 20 as the man who inspired 51 former spy-agency leaders to issue a statement casting doubt on the authenticity of documents from Hunter Biden’s laptop.”
The evidence which oozed out of Hunter’s hard drive implicates “then-presidential candidate Joe Biden in his family’s Chinese and Ukrainian business relationships.”
A cozy threesome
The senators just learned from headlines in the news that both “Blinken and his wife Evan Ryan, [alleged] President Biden’s current cabinet secretary and an assistant secretary of state from 2013 to 2017, appeared to be aware of Hunter’s Burisma position.”
That’s why the senators are demanding Blinky and Mrs. Blinky hand over “all records, referring or relating to Hunter Biden, his business dealings, or his family’s business dealings.” Take your time, they note. Get them to us by May 15, that gives a whole two weeks. On May 16, they’ll get subpoenas if the requested evidence isn’t in Senate hands.
At the time Hunter landed his Burisma job in 2014, Blinken was deputy national security adviser in the Obama administration. From there, he lurched around with John Kerry packing pallets of cash for Iran as deputy secretary of state for two years. Things get serious for Blinky because he was under oath in a Senate deposition when he testified “he had no idea” Hunter worked for Burisma.

What is he hiding?

The specific question was: “During your time as deputy secretary of state, were you aware of any association that Hunter Biden had with Burisma?” Blinky didn’t blink. “I was not.” The investigator didn’t believe him. “You were not aware that Hunter Biden served on Burisma’s board?” the inquisitor probed. “To the best of my recollection, I was not,” A month later he became Joe Biden’s Minister of State.
The senators learned a few interesting things lately that have them more than a little upset. “Although you denied having any knowledge that Hunter Biden was associated with Burisma, emails reportedly from Hunter Biden’s laptop reveal that your wife, Evan Ryan… corresponded directly with Hunter Biden (from her personal email address) in an apparent attempt to connect you with representatives of Burisma’s US lobbying firm, Blue Star Strategies.”
Blinken has some explaining to do. “In an apparent email exchange on July 14, 2016, Hunter Biden told Ryan that ‘S‘ and ‘K‘ told him that they called the State Department and left a message. ‘S‘ and ‘K‘ appear to be Sally Painter and Karen Tramontano, Blue Star Strategies’ Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer, respectively. Ryan wrote to Biden, ‘He didn’t get the msg. He said if we can get him their numbers he can call them late afternoon DC time tmrw — let me know if that works[.]’” Blinky wasn’t mentioned but everyone knows who “he” was. “Although this email exchange did not reference you by name, State Department documents obtained during our investigation make it clear that you were concurrently trying to connect with representatives from Blue Star Strategies.“
