When I go on vacation, I like to keep things pretty simple. Usually a camping trip near where I grew up. Worst thing that can happen is that you get stuck in traffic on the way there. However, there are some folks who go on vacation and end up having things happen that you could make television shows out of.

Over the last few months, some bizarre vacation stories have popped up.

People have been doing some stupid things on vacation, and others have just had some bad luck.

Either way, these vacation tragedies are worth a quick look.

Tragedy Strikes

The first is the story of Cameron Robbins, 18, who was celebrating graduation with friends on a Blackbeard’s Revenge sunset cruise.

For some idiotic reason, Robbins jumped into the shark-infested waters, and he was never seen again.

Based on video of his last moments, Robbins appears to serve as an evening snack for the local shark population.

When tragedy struck, Matthew Urey and Lauren Barham were on their honeymoon in December 2019.

The two booked an excursion to a volcano, which erupted at the time of the tour, killing 21 people.

Urey and Barham were injured during the incident, but they were both put into medically-induced comas and eventually recovered and were reunited to start their marriage together.

The final tragedy involved model Katie Malone while she was in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in June 2018.

Malone was on a parasailing trip, when tragedy struck.

The parachute broke about 45 minutes into the trip, and she wound up crashing at a local airport.

Her brother, Brendan, explained, “The boat flipped over and people started pulling the lines, trying to pull her down, and that was when the parachute line broke and then sent her down the Mexican coastline hundreds of feet in the air.”

Katie was significantly injured in the accident, suffering a fractured pelvis, skull and ribs, facial injuries and a collapsed lung.

Her mother, Kelly Malone, stated, “It was sad to see her in that condition.

“Actually, that morning, she sent me some pictures of her – she went surfing the day before – and then you see her like that.

“And you see her in the hospital, and it just breaks your heart. It’s hard. It’s a really emotional journey.”

Kind of makes you want to have a staycation.
