A new report from the Washington Free Beacon has revealed that far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has breached House ethics regulations. Last year, AOC listed her fiancé, Riley Roberts, as her “spouse”, despite not actually being legally married, in disclosure files last year.

Despite this revelation, however, many questions remain unanswered and further investigation is needed.

The report stated that Ocasio-Cortez referred to Roberts as her spouse while discussing their travels together on trips sponsored by the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation and George Soros’ Open Societies Foundation.

While Roberts paid for his tickets himself, according to the Washington Free Beacon, he was still expected to disclose any financial information related to these trips in order for them to be properly reported on disclosure forms, which did not happen here.

Despite all this evidence, Lauren Hitt – a spokeswoman for Ocasio- Cortez – asserted that no laws were broken because “House Ethics has commonly recognized the term ‘spouse’ to extend to long-term partners,” though it is unclear how this would apply in this case given that they were never actually married at all.

Furthermore, the House Ethics Manual explicitly states that a “spouse” must be someone who is legally married in order to be included in disclosure forms, which obviously wasn’t true here either way.

If it turns out that Ocasio-Cortez knowingly filed false information or omitted important details from these disclosures forms then she could face serious consequences, including fines of up $50 000 or even federal prison time depending on what exactly transpired here behind closed doors.

Additionally if investigations reveal wrongdoing on her part then she might also face censure by the Republican controlled House of Representatives – something few politicians ever want attached to their name or reputation.
