Catholic Priest Burns to DEATH in Fire

Bandits set a Catholic priest’s parish on fire, causing his untimely death in northern Nigeria this Sunday.

Father Isaac Achi’s body was discovered in the rumble of the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church following the blaze.

The priest was killed by armed bandits whom had attacked his residence at around 3:00 a.m. that day in the village of Kafin Koro.

Apparently there had been another priest at the rectory during the incident named Father Collins Omeh. Despite sustaining some gunshot wounds, he was able to escape the building before the fire destroyed it.

Father Collins Omeh is currently being treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital.

The Daily Post reported that the governor of the Nigerian state of Niger, Alhaji Sani Bello Abubakar, described the attack as “ungodly and inhumane.”

Bello has ordered local security agencies to pursue the bandits and made a statement that read:

“This is a sad moment, for a priest to be killed in such a manner means that we are not all safe, these terrorists have lost it, and drastic action is needed to end this ongoing carnage.”

The Diocese of Minna also released a statement regarding father Achi’s death:

“May the soul of very Reverend Father Isaac Achi and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in perfect peace.”

Father Isaac Achi was the chairman of the local branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria and served as the parish priest of the church where he met his untimely death.
