Dem Leader CAVES, He’s Giving in to Trump

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) is starting to crack, at least on the surface.

While the Democrat line overall has been to fight Trump every step of the way, Jeffries is spitting out a different narrative.

The New York Democrat recently stated that he will do his best to work with Trump to create bipartisan legislation.

Back to Work

Believe it or not, there was a time when Congress worked out legislation that benefited everyone.

When it was signed, nobody felt like they crushed the other side, and everyone in Congress felt like they were taking something back to their constituents that would make them happy.

Over the last decade, Congress has become an all-or-nothing business, with very few truly bipartisan bills becoming law.

We have even gotten to the point that Democrats were ramming through spending legislation with reconciliation, not getting a single Republican vote.

Where we are today is a perfect example of why we need bipartisan legislation. When Dems had complete control, they forced through only their policies, and it wrecked our economy.

While I don’t trust Jeffries as far as I can throw him, at least he is starting out the new term by saying the right things.

To that point, the Democrat House Leader stated, “Democrats have consistently made clear that we are ready, willing and able, to find bipartisan common ground with the incoming administration on any issue.”

Jeffries continued, “We are prepared to find common ground with the incoming administration on any issue, particularly as it relates to the most decisive ones to emerge from this election, which, in our view, is to deal with the high cost of living.

“The American people are correct that the deck has been stacked against everyday Americans for decades in ways that undermine the ability for far too many Americans to access the American Dream.”

I really hope he is serious for the sake of this country. The GOP margin is thin in Congress, so there will be plenty of opportunities for deals that will make everyone happy.

I just hope Jeffries realizes this election was a clear rebuke of hardline Democrat policies, so I hope he is willing to be reasonable and actually work for the American people rather than the ongoing quest Democrats have to consolidate their power.
