I don’t know about you guys, but I am sick and tired of hearing about law enforcement officers getting ambushed on calls.
It just happened again in Wisconsin.
Deputy Kaitie Leising, 29, was shot and killed while trying to help a DUI driver after an accident.
Ambushed
We are going to get to a point in this country where officers are simply going to look the other way rather than immediately respond to a crisis.
Honestly, who could blame them?
It almost seems like it is now a death sentence any time an officer is first on the scene and responds to the call before backup arrives.
Leising was responding to an accident involving a DUI driver, attempting to help Jeremiah Johnson at the scene.
As she was doing field sobriety testing with Johnson, he pulled a gun and shot her.
Leising returned fire, but she did not hit Johnson, and he managed to get away in the woods.
There was another car that had stopped to help, and they began life-saving measure for Leising, but she did not make it.
When more officers arrived, they searched the woods for about an hour before tracking down Johnson, who turned his weapon on himself.
Officers heard the shot and saw Johnson drop like a sack of potatoes.
