These posts detail pictures of a packet labelled “Leading Practices: Unpacking Privilege,” which were reportedly taken by an employee at the Home Depot who stumbled upon them. The packet highlights social advantages such as white privilege, class privilege, Christian privilege, and cisgender privilege, which can be beneficial to some individuals in the population, however at the cost of detriment to others.
For instance, one example explains that “If you’re confident that the police exist to protect you, you have white privilege.” Or, “If you can expect time off from work to celebrate your religious holidays, you have Christian privilege.” It also identifies those who are able-bodied, heterosexual, and male as additional types of privilege.

The Home Depot spokeswoman did not disclose whether the informative packet had been discontinued in its Canadian division.
The New York Post published the statement by the spokeswoman: “While we fully support diversity across our company, this material was not created or approved by our corporate diversity, equity and inclusion department. This was a resource in our Canadian division and not part of any required programming.”
Some of the packet’s privilege warnings:
- “If while growing up, college was an expectation of you, not a dream, you have class privilege.”
- “If you can use public bathrooms without stares, fear, or anxiety, you have the cisgender privilege.”
- “If you don’t have to worry about how to get into a store, you have the able-bodied privilege.”
- “If you don’t have to explain that your spouse is of the same gender, you have the heterosexual privilege.”
According to one source familiar with the controversial notice, the company does not require that the content of this notice be taught as part of its diversity and inclusion initiative.
It is known that many conservatives and free speech advocates have pushed back on attempts by companies and colleges to impose “woke” indoctrination.
One Twitter user even mentioned, “Imagine how messed up people have to be before a major corporation decides to post this and their break room.”
