If This is ‘Normal’ We’re In Huge Trouble Turley Declares

If what was disclosed at the House Oversight Committee hearing on July 19 is “normal,” Jonathan Turley declares, then we’re in big trouble. The constitutional law professor was stunned by the panel’s ranking Democrat, Jamie Raskin. “It was anything but normal. I mean, God help us if this is the normal process of an investigation and prosecution.

Professor Turley stunned

Not only is Jonathan Turley a constitutional law professor, who also argues in court, he writes up his opinions and observations for Fox News. As he watched Wednesday’s hearing, he writes, he was “stunned” by Maryland Democrat Jamie Raskin’s claim that Hunter Biden’s investigation and lack of prosecution is “normal.

The utterly nonsensical claim came during Raskin’s opening statement. He was trying to score points in front of the TV cameras before anyone could dispute him. To the Democrat, these guys are just upset that there weren’t any actual crimes to charge Hunter or Joe Biden with.

We’ll hear about the back-and-forth among investigators, prosecutors, and a Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney,” Raskin orated.

Over a dozen people who spent four years investigating the president’s son. We’ll hear about how they disagreed on investigative steps and what criminal charges to bring — all normal stuff in government investigations that doesn’t usually lead to a congressional hearing.” At the first intermission, Turley was doing some play-by-play with Chief Justice John Roberts.

We know what he’s trying to do here, but does he have a point?” Roberts queried. “Well I was stunned when Raskin said what you’re about to hear is perfectly normal,” Turley observed.

And he was sitting in front of two witnesses who are incredibly credible and forthcoming, and they’re saying that this was anything but normal. They had never encountered anything like this before.

Targets tipped off

Turley and every other person who watched the testimony with an open mind are furious to hear the way the IRS investigators were “waved off witnesses.” They were the ones in handcuffs, the entire way through the investigation. “They had targets tipped off before searches occurred. They had agreement with prosecutors on multiple felonies that were scuttled.

They also describe how “there was a knowing decision to allow crimes in 2014-2015 to expire because of statute of limitations.” The suits were clearly covering up for Joe Biden. “It was anything but normal. I mean, God help us if this is the normal process of an investigation and prosecution.

According to IRS insiders Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, “the investigation into Biden faced interference at multiple stages.” For instance, “other U.S. attorneys refused lead prosecutor David Weiss’s request that charges be brought against Biden in their jurisdictions.

Weiss is saying officially that he would have had cooperation if he bothered to ask, he simply didn’t want to. He wasn’t interested in any crime which Joe Biden or anyone in his family committed. Especially Hunter. Jonathan Turley didn’t miss that point and neither did anyone in the American public who’s paying attention.

Separately, agent Ziegler confirmed that “he was not allowed to interview Hunter Biden’s adult children.” That, one of the prosecutors warned, would “get us into hot water.” Jonathan Turley is convinced that the weaponization doesn’t get proven much more than that and it’s beyond time to get the special prosecutions and impeachments going.

Now is the time to reach out to both of your Senators and tell them you’re going to demand convictions of Merrick Garland, Christopher Wray, and Joe Biden. For starters. Then call your rep in the House. If they’re Republican, remind them THEY WORK FOR YOU. Same if they’re a Democrat but be sure to give them an extra earful about how you think they’re representing your interests. Be fair and honest, polite and non-threatening. But make your voice heard.
