On Wednesday, November 8, Israeli forces released a video which they say shows footage of combat engineers locating, entering and blowing up tunnels built by Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip. This marks a huge victory for the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).
Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the chief military spokesman, stated that since the beginning of this conflict 130 tunnels have been destroyed. The videos show soldiers’ body camera footage inside a tunnel constructed by Hamas and explosions demolishing tunnel entrances.

Hamas is known to possess an extensive underground network throughout the Gaza strip used for transporting weapons, supplies, and fighters. Israel has responded to these efforts by bombing urban neighborhoods where they believe the tunnel system or commanders are likely located.
However, it is difficult to inflict significant damage on such a subterranean infrastructure with airstrikes alone.

The videos released by the Israeli military demonstrate their commitment to preventing any further threats posed by Hamas’ underground system in the region. Through these actions they hope to deter them from continuing any dangerous tactics which could harm both civilians and soldiers living in Israel and Palestine alike.
Once again we see Israel’s relentless pursuit for peace as they continue their fight against terror groups like Hamas who threaten innocent lives everyday with their violent acts of aggression towards Israel’s people and land.

The Times of Israel reported:
“The Israel Defense Forces says it located and destroyed a Hamas tunnel adjacent to a UNRWA school in the northern Gaza Strip.
It says troops of the 551st Brigade and the elite Yahalom combat engineering found the tunnel entrance in the Beit Hanoun area, and later demolished it.
For years Israel has accused Hamas of using UNRWA school grounds for terror activity, including tunnels.”
