It would appear that our friend Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has not been playing nicely after getting booted as Speaker.
He seems to have been feeding into the narrative that kept Rep. Scalise (R-LA) from replacing him.
Between his words and lack of action, it is hard to make a case otherwise.
The Betrayal
If there was anyone that McCarthy should have wanted to see as Speaker, it would have been Scalise.
Scalise was already his right hand, serving as the Majority Leader.
But, when McCarthy was asked about Scalise’s chances, he was less than positive…
MCCARTHY says it’s a “big hill” for Scalise.
He said Scalise was telling people he could get 150 votes — which he obviously fell way short of in the closed-door election.
“He wasn’t there,” McCarthy said.

Over and above that, however, was McCarthy’s lack of action.
This self-advertised “leader” decided to sit on his hands while his loyalists trashed Scalise and insisted that they wanted Kevin to take back the gavel.
McCarthy could have easily united the party, but his pride was so damaged that he would rather see the GOP flounder and fail.
This will cost us in the election and Democrats are already using it to say that the GOP cannot be trusted.
We have a major ally that just went to war, yet this infighting his Congress frozen.
Grow up and do your jobs, people.
You can bicker about everything else another time.
