Mother Gives Birth to Her Son TWICE, Here’s Why

Jaiden Ashlea recently gave birth to her new son, Levi James, however, in order to save his life, she will need to give birth to him a second time.

The New York Post was told by the new mother that doctors had expressed concerns after a routine wellness check during her 18-week pregnancy scan, where they explained that her unborn child was suffering from spina bifida.

“I was in shock. I couldn’t even speak when the doctor was telling us this,” Ashlea said.

Sadly, that was not the only news the doctors had to tell her. They also explained to her and her fiancé, Noah Detrick, that their child had a high likelihood of being born brain dead and would therefore have no quality of life.

“I remember saying to myself, ‘This isn’t real, this isn’t happening,” Ashlea said. “It was a nightmare.”

However, the couple was adamant about maintaining their family and refused to follow through on an abortion.

Thankfully, the couple were able to travel to Orlando, Florida where she discovered a life saving surgery that could repair her baby’s spine.

The report states that the mother went into surgery to complete the repair to save her son’s life.

“Doctors made a Cesarean incision along her stomach, broke her water, and successfully repaired the sizable lesion, or abnormality, plaguing the L2 vertebrae in the baby’s lower back,” the outlet reported. “Then, they repositioned the tot inside Ashlea’s tummy, sewed her up, and put her on strict bed rest.”

And she will continue to remain bed-ridden until she can give birth to her son again via C-section at 37 weeks.

“Since the surgery, [doctors have] seen so much more movement and signs of any malformation in his brain are reversing,” Ashlea explained. She was excited to shared that doctors have more faith now that her son has a decreased chance of any major motor issues following the second birth. “He’s kicking his legs, and twisting his ankles in there. I can feel him moving.”

The new mother is incredibly excited to meet her son.

“I’m excited for him to realize how many people were rooting for him, and how loved and special he is,” she added. “Not everyone gets the chance to have this surgery. And I want him to know that God was on his side.”
