Police Make Shocking Arrest After Finding Body Parts Cooking In An Oven

Kentucky State Police have arrested a woman after finding a disturbing and gruesome scene — a dismembered corpse and body parts cooking in an oven.

Authorities were called to a home in Robertson County, the smallest county in Kentucky, after a witness reported finding a shocking scene — a dismembered corpse missing its legs, arms, and head.

The witness, a man who had come to the property to perform work for the homeowner, told officers that he had been at the home one day prior and witnessed 32-year-old Torilena May Fields acting strangely and aggressively toward the victim. According to court documents, he had seen Torilena “casting spells” and “being confrontational” on October 8.

When he arrived at the property the following day, he was worried after no one responded to his knock at the door. His concerns got worse after he looked at the ground outside of the home, where he discovered drag marks leading behind the residence. Following the trail, the man found a shockingly gruesome sight: a dismembered corpse.

Police quickly arrived at the scene and discovered that the situation was much worse than they thought — as they discovered human remains cooking in a pot inside the oven, which was still warm. Arrest documents also indicate that officers discovered “body parts and organs” hidden inside a folded mattress next to the dismembered body in the backyard.

The incident got even more chaotic from there, as they discovered Fields inside the home with blood all over her face, hands, and clothing. After the suspect refused to leave the scene, police called in a special response team that communicated with Fields using a robot and deployed gas into the home during a tense standoff. She ultimately surrendered after a few hours and was taken into custody.

Fields is facing numerous charges, including abuse of a corpse, obstruction of governmental operations, and evidence tampering, according to a press release from the Kentucky State Police. The indictment against Fields goes into more detail, accusing her of “decapitating, dismembering, eviscerating her mother’s corpse and placing her head, feet and forearms in a pot in the oven and heating them until they were charred.”

The identity of the victim was not initially released, but police have since confirmed the shocking news — the victim was the suspect’s mother, Trudy Fields. This was already suspected to be the case, as the witness who found the body reportedly told officers that he recognized the corpse as the homeowner after seeing a “pile of her hair,” according to the arrest report.

A grand jury has since added more charges to Fields’ case, including murder and animal torture, as it was later revealed that she had also allegedly tortured and killed a dog.

Fields has been arraigned, indicted, and held in custody at the Bourbon County Detention Center on a $1.5 million bond. A not guilty plea has been entered on behalf of the defendant by District Judge Charles Kuster Jr., as Fields was not present in the courtroom or on a Zoom call for her first court appearance. The not guilty plea is customary because felony defendants are unable to plead guilty during their first appearance in district court, as district judges do not have the jurisdiction to accept guilty pleas for felonies.

The motive behind the shocking crime has not yet been identified, as police say that the investigation is still “in the infant stages.”
