I will not say that Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) is the best at hearings.
I will say, however, that he his among the most entertaining.
His way of questioning is far different than anyone else in the room.
When he got Garland on the stand, he hammered him, but he did it in a way that was like a doting grandfather disciplining you in a way that makes you feel horrible when you walk out the door.
The Take Down
As always, when Garland gets hit with something negative, he claims he knew nothing of it.
Kennedy focused on “the” letter that was sent to monitor parents at school board meetings.
The opening question was epic, asking, “Didn’t you understand the chilling effect that it would have [on] parents when you issued your directive?
“When you directed your criminal and counterterrorism divisions to investigate parents who were angry at school boards and administrators during COVID?”
This was a timid Q&A, but watch how nervous Garland is and just how systematically Kennedy breaks him down…
Again, let me stress this, how can an Attorney General who is in charge of the DOJ answer more questions than not that he has no knowledge of something that originated from his office?
