This shocking Ring buzzer video recorded a scenario where three armed robbers broke into a home following their one accomplice coaxing the homeowner into opening the front door by convincing them they were selling chocolate.
According to police, the traumatic event unfolded in Stockton, California this past Monday at around 1:47 pm.
The video reel shows the exact moment when the first assailant shows the box of chocolates in an attempt to trick the homeowner into a false sense of security. After the homeowner opens the door to offer money in exchange, the three armed masked men promptly force themselves into the home.
The police stated that the female homeowner was forcibly ordered to get on the ground while the robbers proceeded to steal personal valuable items from her home. She explained to police that the masked men appeared to be in their 20s or 30s.
Surprisingly enough, there is another video that surfaced from a nearby neighbor that showed what seems to be the same exact accomplice attempting their chocolate selling act at his door as well.
The gentleman, who preferred to stay anonymous, shared that he chose not to open the door due to thinking that something felt off about the man attempting to sell the chocolate.
“At that moment, nothing was going through my head, I just thought they were someone selling candy,” he stated to KOVR-TV.
He pointed out that what really instigated his suspicions was because the man outside the door was not facing the camera as he came to ring the bell.
“What if I had opened the door? What if I would’ve decided to buy some candy? It’s definitely put me on situational awareness,” he mentioned.
Apparently another neighbor reported that the same suspects had gone up to the door of each and every home on the residential block.
Cops reported that they are actively searching for three Asian male adults and one Black male adult as suspects in the recent armed robbery. They were told that the suspects drove off in what appeared to be a black SUV. A reward for $10,000 has been posted for any information leading to their arrest.
Police have also warned homeowners to proceed with caution when potentially opening their door to a stranger.
