Ken Evans and his daughter, McKenna Evans, were brutally assaulted in a fatal knife attack in the parking lot of their local shopping center. The fifty-four-year-old father and his 22-year-old daughter were working on their car when a man stabbed them to death in broad daylight.
The suspect’s name has not been released, but California Law Enforcement was able to apprehend the man at the scene of the crime. Law enforcement claims the man approached Ken and McKenna Evans asking for help in fixing his own vehicle.
Police believe an altercation broke out between the man and Ken Evens. It was at this time that the father and daughter were both brutally stabbed.
Officers were called to the scene due to reports of “an assault with a deadly weapon.”
Mckenna Evans was declared dead at the scene while her father was rushed to the hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries. The two leave in their wake McKenna’s Mom and Ken’s Wife, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Evens spoke with local news KABC-TV where she described her family’s assailant.

“When he was in handcuffs, he smirked,” she said. “He had a smirk on his face. How dare he? I hope he never gets out of prison.”
Elizabeth Evans described Ken Evans as a “doting father” who “loved spending as much time as he could with his daughter.” She explained that her husband and daughter were spending quality time together before Ken was to move out of state for work.
At this time, the investigation is still ongoing. Detectives are continuing to examine the details that led up to the attack and determine a possible motive.
Elizabeth told news outlet KTLA that she believes the attack was random as the man appeared to be homeless and living out of his vehicle.
Fox News reported that McKenna Evans wrote a Facebook post days before the attack that indicated her own family’s situation. She wrote, “Hey guys, a lot of things are going on right now, things that are leaving me stressed and scared, and I could really use some prayers.” She continued, “My family still needs to find a home but our case worker hasn’t been much help.”
Our hearts are broken for this sweet family that has already been through so much. Pray for Elizabeth Evens and that she receives justice as the suspect is expected to face murder charges.
