Troops, Veterans’ Families Outraged Over Harris ‘No Troops In War Zone’ Lie

Troops, Veterans’ Families Outraged Over Harris LIE

Vice President Kamala Harris’ blatant lie during the presidential debate that there are currently no U.S. troops serving in war zones has prompted outrage from veterans’ families, as well as troops currently stationed overseas.

During the September 10 presidential debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump, the vice president falsely claimed that there are no members of the U.S. military currently stationed in a war zone.

“As of today there is not one member of the United States military who is in active duty in a combat zone, in any war zone around the world, for the first time this century,” Harris said during the debate.

This claim was not fact-checked during the debate by the ABC moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis. The pair of Democrat propagandists repeatedly “fact-checked” Trump during the debate — with several of those fact-checks being outright lies — but refused to fact-check Harris even once, despite the fact that she told several egregious lies.

Following the debate, numerous videos emerged of U.S. servicemembers reacting to Harris’ lie. One video showed a TV playing Harris’ comments before the camera pans around the room to show several U.S. soldiers, with one laughing while asking: “So, where the f—k are we right now?”

Brad Illerbrunner, father of Chief Warrant Officer Garrett Illerbrunner of the U.S. Army’s elite 82nd Airborne Division, also called out Harris for her lies — pointing out that his son was critically injured in Iraq on Christmas Day. Garrett was struck in the head by shrapnel, which almost killed him and left him disabled.

Responding to Harris’ lie, Illerbrunner stated that it “really [hit] below the belt,” adding: “She doesn’t even recognize that our own troops are getting hurt.”

“We’re still in war zones,” he added, arguing that Harris was “trying to snow the public.”

Harris’ comments also drew a strong response from Holly Davis, wife of a National Guardsman currently deployed in Syria as part of Operation Inherent Resolve.

“It’s very hurtful that someone who is currently our vice president is making these claims when my husband is literally sacrificing his life every day over in the Middle East,” Davis said, pointing out that her husband’s base had been hit by a drone strike on August 9.

She also revealed that she personally heard an alarm ringing to warn of an incoming attack during a recent phone call with her husband.

“I had to sit in those literal two minutes of hearing that, wondering if he was going to come back on the phone,” Davis said. “It’s very real. Very war zone.”

According to the New York Post, there are up to 50,000 American troops currently serving in the Middle East and Africa in areas where they are receiving “hostile fire” or “imminent danger pay” monthly. Three American soldiers were killed in Jordan earlier this year after an attack at a U.S. base near the Syrian border, while another 40 were injured during the attack.
