The judge in the Trump fraud case in New York seems to be a bit of a whacko.
He has been getting blistered on social media.
Donald Trump has also piled it on, but he briefly had a change of heart after the first day of his trial.
Change of Heart
Trump has not been kind to Judge Engoron, and for good reason.
By all signs, this guy is a complete schmuck.
Trump also lit up Attorney General Letitia James, who campaigned on putting Trump in jail.
Trump posted on Truth Social, “The rarely used Executive Law that the N.Y.A.G. is proceeding under is VERY UNFAIR, and being used against me for that reason. NY Executive Law 63 (12) does not require a victim, traditional elements of fraud are eliminated (the only such law!), the law allows a politically elected partisan prosecutor to convince a politically elected judge, who may be friends, to destroy even a Political Opponent.
“This law may not be Constitutional and is not FAIR, and that is why terrible A.G. James chose it to use against me!!!”
When the media approached Trump after the trial, Trump was actually happy about something that Engoron noted during the trial.
He stated, “That last five minutes was outstanding because the judge essentially conceded that the statute of limitations that we won at the court of appeals is in effect.
“Therefore, about 80% of the case is over.”
Trump continued, “The way I interpret that, and the way the room seems to interpret that is that the statute of limitations is a very real thing in this country.
“And about 80% of this case would be over.”
The lovefest did not last long into day two, however.
Engoron slapped Trump with a gag order over comments he made on social media about his clerk and Senator Schumer (D.N.Y.).
Engoron was also mugging for the cameras, and Trump’s surrogates just obliterated him on social media over it.
This is going to be a slugfest for the remainder of this trial.
