According to Distractify, searching “chicken soup” on Facebook can result in a warning message about possible child sexual abuse. The message states “We think your search might be associated with child sexual abuse.”
The alert goes on to warn users of the dire consequences that come from viewing such images or videos of children, including imprisonment and other severe personal consequences, “can lead to imprisonment and other severe personal consequences.”

So how did this connection arise? While ‘chicken soup’ may refer to the traditional comfort food cooked by loving grandmothers around the world, it has been co-opted by pedophiles to search for their most disgusting desires.
The phrase ‘chicken soup’ is now apparently code for child pornography online. Pedophiles will change phrases in their sick networks to make it impossible for law enforcement officials to detect them and their activity without special software or prior knowledge of the slang term being used.
This isn’t just an issue with Facebook either; ‘chicken soup’ is often used as a euphemism in other chat rooms and on various social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit too. And while most people would never think twice about using this phrase referring to delicious comfort food, they should be aware that there are those out there who may interpret their words differently!

How can you stay away from the dark underbelly of the internet? Step One is education: knowing what terms might be interpreted incorrectly is key here – so if you hear someone talking about “chicken soup” online it’s best to stay away from whatever conversation they might be having!
It is disgusting what pedophiles will do to groom children and get away with it, the best you can do is be aware of the seedy underbelly of the internet, and if you have children be aware of what social media platforms they are using, what they are posting, and who they are talking to.
