Former Texas Representative Mayra Flores is running for office again in 2024, and she’s ready to make history once more.
After winning her seat during a special election in June 2022 with a majority of the vote, she became the first Mexican-born woman and the first Republican to represent that area in Southern Texas in over a century.
Unfortunately, after redistricting following the 2020 census, Rep. Flores lost her seat to Democrat Vicente Gonzalez in the November 2022 election. Now she’s back with a vengeance and ready to take back what is hers.
Flores made an incredible statement when she won her seat last year; now she has even more motivation coming into this campaign season as it’s time for her district to have its voice heard again.
She announced her congressional bid on “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday with determination and vigor – “We are taking back our seat, Texas District 34. I’m very excited and I have a lot of faith in God, in my family and in my amazing team that we will flip this district and take back what is ours in 2024.”
Her platform includes restoring the American Dream, securing our borders, standing up for our values of God Family and Country – all ideals which Republicans hold dear.
Despite losing her seat last year due to redistricting changes after the 2020 census, Rep. Flores isn’t giving up without a fight. She knows that there’s still work that needs to be done here in South Texas if they want their voices heard loud and clear come 2024.
Her team has already started gaining momentum leading into this campaign season with an outpouring of support from both Democrats and Republicans alike who are inspired by her story — making history twice as both a Mexican-born woman and as a Republican candidate for office.
