Announcement Made on Whether Nancy Pelosi Will Run for Re-Elect

Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi has announced that she will be running for re-election in the 2022 Congressional race and CNN’s sources near her say “she isn’t ruling out the possibility of trying to stay in leadership after 2022”, even though she made a serious vow to step aside as the top House Democrat to the younger crop of radicals to take over when she was elected Speaker in 2018. The vow Pelosi made was the crux of an agreement with seven dissenting Democrats who stood in opposition to her leadership bid. Under the terms, she reached with the prominent Dems, her term as Speaker, and indeed her term as a Congresswoman should end with the 2022 election.

At the time, she explained the terms,

“This proposal, which was developed by Members who care about the institution of the House of Representatives, would provide that Members in senior leadership positions can serve 3 terms with an additional term with two-thirds support of the Caucus,” Pelosi said in a statement. “It would include the two terms of the Democratic Majority from 2007 to 2011.”

“I am comfortable with the proposal and it is my intention to abide by it whether it passes or not,” Pelosi said.

So far Congressional Democrats are terrified to speak out in defiance. However, according to a new Punchbowl News poll reported by The Daily Mail,

“Only 20% of Democratic Hill staffers think Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer should remain leaders of the Party after the midterm elections”

The poll found that 62 percent of all Congressional Democratic Staffers said that Schumer and Pelosi should step down REGARDLESS of the outcome of the 2022 midterms. Another 17% said there should only be a leadership change if Democrats perform poorly… an outcome that now seems all but certain.

Republicans’ Response To Pelosi Broken Promise? ‘GOOD.’

Nancy’s refusal to step down, far from an advantage for Democrats could sound the death knell of their Congressional majorities. National Republican Congressional Committee’s spokesman Mike Berg seemed thrilled about the news because simply put: Pelosi is losing control.

“Nancy Pelosi is the most unpopular politician in the country and will be an anchor around the campaign of every single vulnerable Democrat. The midterms will put an end to this power-drunk politician’s Speakership whether she likes it or not,” Berg said.

According to CNN, Pelosi is “is also losing her grip on House Democrats. Interviews with her colleagues reveal a struggle to keep up with members who are less concerned with loyalty and allegiance and more willing to blow up negotiations for the sake of a boost on social media or TV. She faced repeated rebellions the last few months, they say. She rescheduled votes over and over because she couldn’t get her caucus together — as Biden and top White House aides lost patience with House Democrats’ constant drama. She got so irritated with Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Pramila Jayapal that she gave the Washington state Democrat the silent treatment for several days, according to several lawmakers who heard of it from the shunned colleague.”

No matter how you slice it, one way or another: Pelosi’s tenure as Speaker seems to be running out.
