The Biden-Harris administration’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal is once again coming back to bite them after an Afghan man was arrested in the U.S. for planning a mass terror attack on Election Day.

Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, a 27-year-old Afghan man who was flown to the U.S without proper vetting after the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, was reportedly residing in Oklahoma when he was arrested.

On Tuesday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced in a press release that Tawhedi had been apprehended after he had “conspired and attempted to provide material support to ISIS and obtained firearms and ammunition to conduct a violent attack” on the American people.

According to the press release, Tawhedi has been charged with “conspiring and attempting to provide material support to ISIS,” as well as “receiving a firearm to be used to commit a felony or a federal crime of terrorism.”

The document confirmed that Tawhedi is facing a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for the first charge and a maximum sentence of 15 years for the second charge.

The would-be terrorist allegedly took “steps to liquidate his family’s assets” and to “resettle” his family overseas before he could carry out the plot, according to the press release, which added that he had obtained firearms including “AK-47 assault rifles and ammunition.”

Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a statement about how the DOJ “foiled” Tawhedi’s plot.

“As charged, the Justice Department foiled the defendant’s plot to acquire semi-automatic weapons and commit a violent attack in the name of ISIS on U.S. soil on Election Day,” the statement read. “We will continue to combat the ongoing threat that ISIS and its supporters pose to America’s national security, and we will identify, investigate, and prosecute the individuals who seek to terrorize the American people.”

The criminal complaint against Tawhedi revealed something that conservatives have been repeatedly expressing concerns about — he had entered the U.S. thanks to the Biden-Harris administration transporting Afghanis in the aftermath of the botched withdrawal without proper vetting. The document states that the terrorist “entered the United States on September 9, 2021, on a special immigrant visa and is currently on parole status pending adjudication of his immigration proceedings.”

This news comes as conservatives continue to scrutinize the Biden-Harris administration’s failures at vetting foreign individuals that they have allowed into the country, including those who illegally entered the U.S. through the southern border and those who were purposely flown here from overseas.

Donald Trump Jr. responded to the news of Tawhedi’s arrest in a post on X, pointing out that Vice President Kamala Harris had “let thousands of UNVETTED migrants from Afghanistan” into the United States.

“After the embarrassing pull out of Afghanistan in 2021, Kamala Harris let thousands of UNVETTED migrants from Afghanistan into America,” Trump Jr. wrote. “How many more terrorists plotting to kill Americans are in our country today because of her disastrous decisions?”

Meanwhile, Democrats like FBI Director Christopher Wray celebrated the news without a hint of criticism for the Biden-Harris administration.

“This defendant, motivated by ISIS, allegedly conspired to commit a violent attack, on Election Day, here on our homeland,” Wray wrote in a statement. “I am proud of the men and women of the FBI who uncovered and stopped the plot before anyone was harmed. Terrorism is still the FBI’s number one priority, and we will use every resource to protect the American people.”
