Johnny Charles Ebbs V of Texas who was accused of beating his girlfriend to the extent that he killed their unborn child, will shockingly serve absolutely zero jail time after accepting a plea bargain from the Travis County District Attorney on Monday.

According to The New York Post, the plea deal included eight years of deferred adjudication on a third-degree continuous family violence assault charge for Ebbs. This means that if he successfully serves out his probation, his offense will be dismissed entirely without a charge or conviction.

The Post, citing law enforcement authorities wrote that Ebbs beat and hospitalized his pregnant girlfriend, LaShonda Lemons, back in 2019 in Austin.

Their child died three days later in utero due to blunt force trauma.

According to an arrest warrant cited by KXAN-TV, Ebbs assaulted Lemons, during an argument. The warrant explained that Ebbs punched her in the stomach and screamed “F— you and this baby! You aren’t going anywhere!”

During her victim impact statement in court Monday, Lemons told Ebbs, “You were the first person to hold me at gunpoint. The first person to strangle me,”

Lemons’ attorney, Kelsey McKay, told KXAN-TV that Ebbs was supposed to be required by both his bond and an agreed-upon protective order to forfeit any firearms he owns. However,  McKay said that has never happened.

“We have firearm surrender laws. We have domestic violence laws. But if there’s not enforcement and implementation of those laws, they’re relatively useless,” McKay said.

The Travis County District Attorney’s Office made Ebbs swear in court that he doesn’t have any firearms and won’t live in a home where they are stored. McKay also informed the local outlet that Ebbs will not serve any jail time and rather will only need to wear a GPS monitoring device for six months… after allegedly beating his girlfriend savagely and murdering their baby.

According to Lemons, who was 32 weeks pregnant at the time of the assault, their baby boy would’ve been named Charles.

The District Attorney’s office told KXAN-TV that “Additional evidence gathered through the course of the investigation made clear that the facts do not support the initial allegation.”
