The last indictment handed down by special counsel Jack Smith has gotten under some people’s skin.

It is also not helping his case that indictments have been timed out with bad news for Biden.

Now the GOP-run House is hoping to cut the man’s salary, effectively eliminating his position.

Time to Go

The effort to defund Smith is realistically mostly for show.

With Democrats in charge of the Senate and Joe Biden in the White House, this legislation will die once it leaves the House.

Regardless, Republicans want Smith to know they are on to him.

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) sponsored the bill, stating, “The Biden Administration’s weaponization of the DOJ for personal political gain through the appointment of Jack Smith is nothing short of appalling.

“In November 2022, he was tasked with taking down Biden’s biggest threat, President Donald J. Trump. From falsified indictments to non-existent supporting ‘evidence’, everything about the proceedings by Smith have screamed desperate.

“America cannot and will not stand for that, and it’s well past time that Congress uses its power of the purse to tell Jack Smith: you’re fired.”

Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ), a co-sponsor of the bill, added, “Biden’s Department of Justice is attempting to muzzle the voice of the American people and forcibly impose the Administration’s morally corrupt agenda onto this country.

“The weaponization of the DOJ against the political enemies of the Biden Crime Family, by way of left-wing puppet Jack Smith, is contrary to our governing principles.

“It’s simple: patriotic American taxpayers shouldn’t be funding the salary of someone actively fighting to suppress their voices.”

If this goes to the House floor, it will more than likely pass, but as I noted, that is where this quest will end.
