This major liberal nonprofit has just been exposed for providing support to multiple groups who have justified the malicious Hamas terrorist attacks on Israeli citizens and or accused Israel of genocide. This nonprofit is The Tides Center.
Fiscal sponsorship is “a process in which a sponsor organization is paid to act as an umbrella under which new center-left political groups may fundraise and operate prior to achieving recognition of tax-exempt status,” according to Influence Watch. The Tides Center provides fiscal sponsorship services to numerous projects, including those tied to Hamas’ attack on Israel.
The Adalah Justice Project is one such group supported by the Tides Center. On the day of Hamas‘ attacks, this organization posted an image featuring a bulldozer tearing down part of Israel’s border fence with the caption: “Israeli colonizers believed they could indefinitely trap two million people in an open air prison…no cage goes unchallenged.”
The post went on to argue that resistance was inevitable given the situation Palestinians face at the hands of Israeli authorities. Additionally, Palestine Legal—another fiscally sponsored project of The Tides Center—released a statement referring to these terrorist acts as “one of the most significant acts of Palestinian resistance” and accusing Israel of genocide.
The Catalyst Project, an anti-racism initiative funded by The Tides Center, applauded Hamas’ attack on civilians in what it referred to as “an historic act of resistance.” In its social media posts, this group also accuses Israel multiple times throughout its social media accounts for committing genocide against Palestinians.
Furthermore, grantmaking partner Trans Justice Funding Project released its own statement accusing Israel for carrying out eight decades worth of violence and oppression against Palestinians and citing a designated terror organization in order to make their case stronger.
Aside from offering these groups fiscal sponsorship services, The Tides Foundation has also distributed hundreds of thousands dollars in grants towards organizations perpetuating this narrative about Israeli actions being genocidal in nature.
For example IfNotNow received $45,000 from them during 2021 fiscal year alone despite organizing protests celebrating Gaza terrorists breaching Israeli borders with explosives strapped onto themselves. Other recipients include Black Lives Matter Grassroots who posted statements claiming Israelis actions must not be condemned but understood instead as desperate acts self defense.
