Sunny Hostin, a co-host of “The View,” could barely contain her rage while being forced to read a legal disclaimer disputing the show’s lies about former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who was recently nominated for attorney general by President-elect Donald Trump.
Earlier in the show, Hostin, a former federal prosecutor, repeated numerous lies about the allegations against Gaetz. The outgoing Republican congressman was accused of sex trafficking with zero evidence, and a Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation ended without any charges being brought.
“Within the Department of Justice, you know, you have the sex crimes unit, which is what I was a part of. Child sex crimes and child trafficking. How could you nominate someone with allegations of child trafficking or trafficking across state lines and having sex with a 17-year-old?” Hostin asked, adding that, even according to the allegations against Gaetz, the relationship was ended as soon as it was revealed that the girl was 17 years old.
Disgraced co-host Whoopi Goldberg also chimed in, stating: “I’m saddened by it because all of those women who will have to get some defense of what’s happened to them, that’s who they’re going to, and this is someone who will just say, ‘It’s not a big deal.’ All of those little kids who, you know, get abused, they got no recourse now because this is what’s in charge.”
After the show came back from a commercial break, Hostin came back with a legal disclaimer that forced her to admit that the investigations into the allegations did not come up with any evidence leading to charges.
“Sunny, you have a legal note,” Goldberg prompted her.
“I do have a legal note. Thank you, Whoopi,” Hostin said flatly, clearly trying to contain her emotions. “Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations, calling the claims, quote, ‘invented,’ and saying in a statement to ABC News that ‘this false smear following a three-year criminal investigation should be viewed with great skepticism.’ The DOJ investigation was closed with no charges being brought.”
RedState’s Bonchie shared the clip in a post on X, highlighting Hostin’s attempt to hide her rage, writing: “Sunny Hostin looks like she’s about to rip the heart out of her producer as she’s forced to issue a correction on Matt Gaetz.”
