Pastor Loses Job Over Drag Queen HBO Special

Rev. Craig Duke has been a Methodist minister for thirty years. His devotion to God may be suspect as the proof of his worship of self has been exposed as a Drag Queen on HBO. The good Reverand dressed in drag to show his solidarity with the LGBTQ community.

The Bible warns us about a great “falling away” in the end times. As more churches bow their knee to the idol of woke it’s hard not to think we may be there. Reverand Duke is just one of many examples of Church leadership shepherding their flock away from God’s word.

However, there are consequences to such behavior. Rev. Duke’s church has become deeply divided and due to his very public demonstration, the Reverand has lost his position as pastor of the church.

The Drag Queen Problem of the Church

We live in a society that worships self. Our desires, sexual or otherwise, are to be satiated not denied as the Bible teaches. These desires are pleasurable in the moment but they give no long-term satisfaction. Instead, we must pursue the next selfish desire to regain that sense of fulfillment that only God can satisfy in our lives.

When dealing with lost people, those who do not believe in God or His word, it is to be expected that other idols will surface in their lives. We are made to worship and to crave fellowship. Those two natural desires God designed in us can be misused without the guidance of God.

But when dealing with those within the church we must follow the example that the Bible gives us. Paul tells Timothy that “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

According to God Christians are to be held to a higher standard than the world holds. We cannot put the ideologies of the lost before the word of God and we cannot allow leaders in our church to pervert or change scripture to suit their sinful desires.

Whether gay or straight all humans are image-bearers of a Holy God. They are to be respected and loved but love does not mean that sin is tolerated. Jesus is our prime example to follow. He loved all people so much that He deliberately humbled Himself and died to allow us, sinful dirty creatures, that we are, access to Holy and pure God.

We must have compassion for those with their sin struggles because we all face the same battle of worshipping self. What we cannot do is allow for God’s standard for His children, the church, to be corrupted by the ideologies of the world.
