Shocking Assassination Attempt Revealed

Shocking new information has come out about the man who killed a federal judge’s son and wounded her husband last year. The man was also planning to target Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, according to the judge.

A Judge’s Family Targeted

In July of 2020, Roy Den Hollander appeared at the home of U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas dressed as a deliveryman. Salas had presided over one of his lawsuits in the past.

Den Hollander killed Salas’ son, Daniel Anderl, 20, and wounded her husband, Mark Anderl, an attorney.

The next day, Den Hollander was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Since the day her family was targeted, Salas has focused her efforts on promoting legislation that would remove judges’ personal information from the internet, to prevent an attack like this from occurring again.

In a 60 Minutes interview, Salas discussed the incident. “Who knows what could have happened? But we need to understand that judges are at risk. That we put ourselves in great danger every day for doing our jobs,” she told 60 Minutes.

Another Target

Salas also claimed in the interview that authorities had found a dossier on Justice Sotomayor in a locker used by Hollander.

“They found another gun, a Glock, more ammunition. But the most troubling thing they found was a manila folder with a workup on Justice Sonia Sotomayor,” she said.

Salas told 60 Minutes that the dossier on Sotomayor included her “favorite restaurants, where she worked out, her friends.”

The Associated Press previously reported that authorities had found a document belonging to Den Hollander that contained information about a dozen judges across the country. All the targeted judges were female, and half were Latina.
