It has recently come to light that a business partner of Hunter Biden met with the Obama administration’s Secretary of State weeks before the sudden termination of Viktor Shokin, Ukraine’s top prosecutor.
This meeting is raising eyebrows as it could possibly be linked to Shokin’s firing, which he believes was due to interference by then-Vice President Joe Biden.
Shokin had been investigating Hunter and other executives at energy company Burisma for corruption when he was terminated from his post in March 2016.
Emails unearthed through public records show that Hunter’s business partner Devon Archer sat down with Secretary of State John Kerry less than four weeks before Shokin’s termination.
The purpose of this meeting remains unknown though allegations have arisen that Vice President Biden may have pressured Ukraine into taking action against Shokin in return for a $1 billion economic aid package.
The White House has denied any involvement by President Biden in a scheme to fire Shokin, but a confidential witness interviewed by the FBI alleges that he accepted a $5 million bribe to do so.
Separate investigations also revealed potential Russian influence on the matter, though further details remain unclear.
In an interview with Fox News, Shokin stated “I have said repeatedly…that Poroshenko fired me at the insistence of the then-Vice President Biden because I was investigating Burisma.”
He went on to explain how if the investigation continued they would have uncovered evidence of corrupt activities carried out by both Hunter and Devon Archer among others.
