Disgraced Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein is once again back in the headlines, as he faces a new lawsuit. Actress Julia Ormond has just filed a lawsuit in the state Supreme Court in Manhattan, where she accuses him of sexually assaulting her back in 1995.
The lawsuit claims that Ormond was sexually assaulted by Weinstein following a business meeting and that when she confronted him about it several weeks later, he retaliated against her by negatively affecting her career.

Not only is Harvey Weinstein being named as a defendant in this case but also Creative Arts Agency (CAA), Miramax, and Disney who are all said to have enabled his behavior which made them liable for his actions as well according to the lawsuit.
In addition to this, Ormond stated that she reached out to CAA at the time but they failed to offer any support or advice for taking legal action against him. This is significant because it could prove an important point regarding how long-term these enablers knew about what was going on with Harvey Weinstein and if they had taken proper precautions then maybe some of these cases would have been prevented.
The Adult Survivors Act was passed back in 2022 which gave survivors of sexual assault temporary windows where they can make late legal claims past the usual deadline set by states. This allowed Ormond to be able to file litigation against Harvey Weinstein despite so much time having passed since the alleged incident occurred in 1995 when she was a rising star in Hollywood.
According to her lawsuit, she had kept contact with him over scripts and future projects which were connected through Miramax where he served as co-chairman at the time of their agreement.
Imran Ansari, lawyer for Harvey Weinstein released a statement saying Weinstein “categorically denies the allegations made against him by Julia Ormond and he is prepared to vehemently defend himself” referencing comments made from her lawsuit regarding sexual misconduct occurring between them years ago.
In 2020, Weinstein was convicted of rape and sexual assault charges which resulted in being sent off to prison where he currently remains today serving his sentence.
