Leftist comedian Jon Stewart ruthlessly mocked Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media for being offended by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s “very funny” jokes during former President Donald Trump’s sold-out rally in Madison Square Garden on Sunday.
Trump held a massive rally at New York City’s Madison Square Garden with several guest speakers, including Hinchcliffe, the host of the incredibly popular “Kill Tony” podcast.
During the rally, Hinchcliffe made some crass jokes that prompted outrage from the anti-comedy left. Even some on the right were concerned about the impact of the jokes, but most conservatives just thought he was funny — after all, Hinchcliffe is a “roast comedian,” so anyone familiar with his past work would expect some crass jokes.
Stewart is one of those people, as he noted in his show that he likes Hinchcliffe’s comedy — but he knows that it was probably “not the best decision” to have a “roast comedian” at a Trump rally just one week before the election.
The joke that prompted the backlash was a simple mockery of Puerto Rico’s ongoing trash problem, as the country’s landfills are reportedly over capacity and non-compliant with regulations. Hinchcliffe quipped: “There’s a lot going on. Like, I don’t know if you know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”

Stewart began the segment by highlighting unhinged reactions to Hinchcliffe’s joke from MSNBC and CNN, including “Morning Joe” cohost Mika Brzezinski calling them “extremely vile so-called jokes.”
In response to Brzezinski’s comment, Stewart quipped: “Extremely vile. So called jokes? She name checked my comedy album from the 90s.”
“Now, obviously, in retrospect, having a roast comedian come to a political rally a week before Election Day and roasting a key voting demographic probably not the best decision by the campaign politically,” Stewart continued. “But to be fair, the guy’s really just doing what he does.”
Stewart went on to play another clip of Hinchcliffe, this time during a roast of NFL quarterback Tom Brady.
“There’s something wrong with me. I find that guy very funny,” he laughed.
“I don’t know what to tell you. I mean, bringing him to a rally and having him not do roast jokes and be like bringing Beyoncé to a rally and not…” Stewart trailed off, referring to the recent scandal involving the Harris campaign deceiving voters into thinking Beyoncé would perform at a rally, only to have her give a three-minute speech, prompting rallygoers to boo and leave the event.
