One of the “moderate” moderators on Faux News got a little unfair and imbalanced Monday evening when she interrupted former President Donald Trump on the air to break a fake news alert. “I want to get to this because it just happened now,” the reporter gasped. The only problem is the only place “it” happened was inside her own head.
An exaggerated reporter
When Mark Twain’s obituary accidentally got published while he was still alive, he was quick to get off a telegram saying “the report of my death was an exaggeration.”
The same can be said for the death of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ career. Faux News reporter Harris Faulkner exaggerated the demise of his career, apparently just to upstage the former president. He made the best of it.
Monday evening while on the air, Faulkner interrupted the former president in mid-sentence to blurt out, “I want to get to this because it just happened now. I want to check with our producers. The DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has resigned Mr. President.”
Trump quipped to the reporter, “I’m not surprised. Good. That’s a big victory for our country.”
Her producers filled her ear-piece with words which can’t be reprinted while Falkner went blank, staring into space and muttering “Hold on. Let me stop. Let me stop. Let me listen to my team one more time.”
When the screaming toned down to a level the reporter could finally interpret, she added, “Forgive me. Forgive me. That has not happened. And I apologize.”
Cross off that victory
Former President Trump took the entire incident with good humor, laughing while he acknowledged “Oh, okay. Cross off that victory.”
It wouldn’t surprise Trump any though. He’s been saying that for a while, as Ms. Faulkner mentioned. The reporter just quivered.
The host complimented the former president on his skills with a crystal ball. “You called for that, though. And you were just talking about him, just to clarify, as somebody who is not competent to handle what’s going on.” To cover her faux pas, Faulkner started babbling.
“So let me clean up on aisle seven with my error. He has not resigned. Let me move to what you were calling for and others too, for him to move out of the way and get somebody who can do the job. Your thoughts?” For a reporter, that’s basically a total meltdown.
Faulkner handed the microphone over like it was a dead rat. Trump grinned as he saved her further embarrassment while the reporter pulled her foot out of her mouth.
“Well, I think that will eventually happen. He is way over his head.”
