2 Pounds Of Fentanyl Wash Ashore On Daytona Beach

After an unsuspecting beachgoer discovered more than two pounds of fentanyl washed ashore on Daytona Beach, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents were forced to step in.

Andrew Scharnweber, interim Chief Patrol Agent of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Miami Sector, shared an image of the massive plastic-wrapped brick of the deadly synthetic opioid in a post on X, noting that his agents had “seized over 2 lbs. of Fentanyl that was discovered washed-up on the beach by a Good Samaritan” who immediately contacted police after discovering the white powder.

He went on to warn Americans to avoid any suspicious packages, as fentanyl is incredibly deadly even from skin-to-skin contact. The dangerous synthetic opioid is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine, and just a two-milligram dose, roughly the size of 5-7 grains of salt, can cause death for an average-sized adult — meaning that the 2 pounds of fentanyl found on the beach is enough to kill roughly 450,000 people.

“Warning — Do not attempt to disturb or handle any suspicious packages along the shoreline. Contact local authorities immediately,” Scharnweber wrote.

At this time, it is unclear where the massive brick of fentanyl came from or how it ended up on Daytona Beach.

This comes after another recent seizure of fentanyl in a drug trafficking investigation in Florida spanning multiple counties, with reports indicating that law enforcement seized enough of the deadly synthetic opioid to kill three million people, according to Breitbart News. In this case, the fentanyl was discovered in several different forms, including “bricks” like what was found on Daytona Beach, along with thousands of pressed pills disguised to look like prescription opioids such as oxycodone.

The drastic increase in fentanyl being trafficked into the U.S. across the Biden-Harris administration’s wide-open border has caused fatal overdoses to rise above 112,000 deaths for all ages in 2023 for the first time in American history.

While a lot of the deadly drug is being manufactured in Mexico, it has been confirmed that the materials being used to produce the drug are being sent to Mexico by communist China. According to a recent report from the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), China has been subsidizing “manufacturing and export” of the chemicals used to create fentanyl and other synthetic drugs.
