Police officers in Sweden have stumbled upon quite a disturbing discovery. A taxi driver was found dead by authorities hanging in the woods, but what makes the case more grisly is the identity of the prime suspect.
The 15-year-old girl behind this awful crime has been indicted, along with her boyfriend and brothers for murdering the taxi driver who had allegedly raped her earlier that year.

On March 26th an abandoned taxi belonging to a Middle Eastern man was discovered in the parking lot of Hjälstaviken nature reserve near Stockholm.
On April 1st, his body was found hanging nearby from an apparent lynching. According to Fria Tider, it seems as though the murder had “the character of an execution” and police quickly uncovered evidence linking it to revenge against him for raping then 14-year-old girl.
Text messages were found from her day before his death which stated that her boyfriend and brothers would be meeting up with “her rapist” and taking revenge on him.
The same night they sent vodka for him to buy and asked him to meet them at a secluded location near the nature reserve where he was later murdered. Although she admits to luring him there, she claims only intended for him to be beaten not killed.
This story brings up so many questions about justice versus vigilantism when faced with horrific circumstances like these. It can be tempting in situations such as this one – especially when we consider characters like Batman or Avengers who are portrayed as extra-legal actors protecting innocent people – but what happened here wasn’t defending anyone but taking revenge instead.
While what this man did is undoubtedly horrible any just punishment would have come through proper authorities rather than citizens without any authority or reason doing something so terrible themselves.
No matter how much we want instant retribution when faced with injustice sometimes we must wait for justice from proper authorities.
