Biden Claims Admin Built 500K EV Stations, Only 8 Were Built

Biden Gets Caught in Another HUGE Lie

During his farewell address at the Democrat National Convention (DNC), President Joe Biden repeatedly lied about his record in office — including falsely suggesting that his administration had built 500,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the U.S., despite only having built eight.

“Remember we were told we couldn’t get anything done. We couldn’t get anything done in the Congress. Well with your support, we passed the most significant climate law in the history of mankind… Creating hundreds of thousands of jobs in clean energy for American workers including the IBEW installing 500,000 charging stations all across America,” Biden claimed.

Breitbart News fact-checked Biden’s comment, declaring it: “MOSTLY FALSE.”

As of May 2024, more than two and a half years after the Biden administration and the Democrats in Congress allocated $7.5 billion to the project, only eight of the charging stations have been built, according to Breitbart News.

Autoweek also reported on the issue back in May, writing: “The Biden Administration’s $7.5 billion effort to jump-start the electric-vehicle charging landscape is moving very, very slowly. Now more than two years after the program was signed into law in late 2021, only eight chargers have been put in place… The allocated dollars are $5 billion through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program and $2.5 billion in Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) discretionary grant funding via the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.”

However, other outlets have reported that only seven charging stations have been built thus far.

This is not the first time that Biden lied about the number of EV charging stations that his administration built, as he made similar comments during this year’s State of the Union Address in March. However, at that time, they had not built a single EV charging station.

CBS News’ “Face the Nation” asked failed Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg about the delay. He responded by claiming that the rest of the EV charging stations would be built by 2030 — but it appears that this effort will have to wait for the next administration to take over, as the Biden administration reportedly has not made any progress since May, and it is unlikely that much more will get done before he leaves office in January 2025.
