In videos posted on social media, socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) admitted that President-elect Donald Trump’s landslide victory means that Americans are tired of “fake politicians.”
The videos shared to social media on Monday night feature Ocasio-Cortez speaking directly to the camera about her thoughts on Trump’s landslide victory that included Republicans taking over the Senate and retaining their majority in the House of Representatives. She responded to the Democrats’ devastating loss with a rant about “fake politicians” and voters’ desire for authenticity — though it is unclear who she was actually referring to.
“A lot of voters really don’t like fake people, and they’re sick and tired of fake politicians,” Ocasio-Cortez began.
“What I actually think is worse is saying something you don’t believe,” she continued. “If during the entire time of the campaign season, you’re saying that you’re down with trans people or the LGBT community and then you lose an election and then the next day you say all that stuff was wrong, I actually think what people are more upset about is someone was doing something they didn’t believe and just saying something. If you actually weren’t about that life, why did you campaign as though you were? That I think is the actual core issue of the problem.”

Social media users were quick to respond to her remarks, arguing that she was displaying hypocrisy because Ocasio-Cortez is widely considered to be an extremely fake person.
“So… The fakest person in politics flames the 2nd fakest person in politics for being fake. Did I get that right?” one user wrote, referring to Ocasio-Cortez and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I will just leave this here,” another user wrote, sharing the infamous staged photo of Ocasio-Cortez pretending to cry next to a chain-link fence that viewers are supposed to believe is part of an illegal alien detention center — but was later revealed to be standing next to an empty parking lot.

Another person responded to the photo with yet another staged incident featuring Ocasio-Cortez, where she pretended to be getting arrested during a pro-abortion protest outside of the Supreme Court. She is seen in the clip smirking as she walked with a police officer standing behind her and held her own hands behind her back, pretending to be handcuffed. The obviously fake arrest was further proven as she then lifted one fist in the air, shakes it, and then places it behind her back pretending to be handcuffed again — though this part of the fake arrest was not shown in the clip.
