CNN contributor David Axelrod has joined a chorus of Democrats who refuse to admit that their worldview could be flawed — instead attacking the American people for choosing the “wrong” candidate.
Democrats have been melting down in the hours since President Donald Trump was declared the winner of the 2024 presidential election. Rather than trying to understand what they did wrong, the left is instead insisting that the Americans who chose Trump are just terrible people.
During his Wednesday appearance on CNN, the former Obama campaign adviser stated that he needed to be “absolutely blunt” and “honest” about the results of the 2024 election — but what followed was anything but honest. Instead of identifying issues that caused Kamala Harris to lose and Trump to win a landslide victory, Axelrod called the American people racist and sexist for not choosing Harris.
“Let‘s be honest about this, okay, let’s be absolutely blunt about it,” he said. “There were appeals to racism in this campaign, and there is racial bias in this country and there is sexism in this country, and anybody who thinks that that did not in any way impact on the outcome of this race is wrong.”
“I am not saying that was the main reason that Kamala Harris lost and Donald Trump won,” Axelrod added. “I think they ran, honestly, strategically, his campaign, and I said many times, they ran a very smart campaign. It was ultimately a rational, well-conceived and well-executed campaign for an often-irrational candidate, and they overcame him to sell his message or the message that they thought he should be selling to the country. But let‘s not confuse what this was and wasn‘t. Let‘s be very clear-eyed about it.”

Another panelist, CNN’s Van Jones, also called the American people racist for electing Trump.
“There is a license that [Trump] had to just be a fool, just to be an obnoxious a— to everyone,” Jones insisted, arguing that any other candidate would not be allowed to act similarly.
He went on to argue that Harris is well-qualified for the presidency despite having virtually zero accomplishments, claiming that her previous positions as a district attorney, California attorney general, senator, and vice president made her qualified — but “she is not Oprah or Beyoncé.”
Shocker. CNN says that Trump won because of racism.
