Disgraced former CNN host Don Lemon is facing serious backlash on social media after he suggested that Joseph, the husband of the Virgin Mary, was gay.
Lemon made the blasphemous remarks during an appearance on the “Michael Steele Podcast” — where he attempted to diminish the story of Jesus Christ with the outlandish and unbelievably offensive claim that Mary had actually cheated on Joseph, but he was a “gay guy” and didn’t “want her to die or be stoned to death” so he lied to save himself from fundamentalist persecution.
“Should I tell them what I said?” Lemon asked Steele during the podcast.
“Yeah, go ahead,” the host and former RNC chair responded, smiling and laughing.
“I said, well, maybe Joseph was this sort of gay guy who said…” Lemon trailed off, laughing as Steele told listeners to pick themselves up “off the floor.”
Lemon then continued, stating: “right, I [speaking as Joseph] I don’t want her to die or be stoned to death, or whatever because she got pregnant and she’s not married…and then I am not married, or whatever. So, okay, this is kind of perfect.”
Steele interrupted to state: “Because he was an older gentleman, unmarried gentleman.”
“Yes, and so it’s kind of perfect,” Lemon continued. “And so he took her out of her town and took her to Bethlehem.”
“And he got out of that town, too!” Steele responded as Lemon held his hands up in a sign that he had proved his point.
“I’m just saying,” Lemon closed.

Social media users were quick to call out Lemon’s blasphemy, with many pointing out that the disgraced leftist commentator would have never made similar comments about any other religious figures.

“I’d like to see Don try to say this about the Prophet Mohammed. I’d absolutely love to see how it would end for him,” wrote commentator Joey Mannarino.

“Don Lemon’s claim that Joseph was gay, undermining Christ’s divinity, is pure attention seeking cowardice. If he had real courage, he’d suggest the same about Muhammad, but he won’t…knowing Muslims might retaliate. Instead, he targets Christians, counting on their peaceful response,” another user wrote.

Rather than focusing on Lemon, another user called out the host, who previously served as the chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), for not pushing back against the blasphemy — as it just serves to prove to conservative voters just how bad their party leadership has been.
“Michael Steele proving once again what a joke the RNC was,” the user wrote.

Meanwhile, Breitbart News refuted Lemon’s claims with scripture, writing: “As laid out in Luke 2: 1-20, Joseph took Mary while pregnant with Jesus to the town of Bethlehem because Caesar Augustus had ordered a census of the entire Roman world. As Luke writes, Joseph went ‘to Bethlehem, the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.’”
“So, the journey to Bethlehem was to comply with a lawful census order from Rome and not an escape from anything, let alone the utterlyy unsubstantiated charge that Joseph was a ‘sort of gay guy,’” the outlet continued.
