Newsom, Dems Reach 50M Deal To Fight Trump While LA Burns

Instead of focusing on the Los Angeles wildfires and the devastating effects on their constituents, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and his allies in the Democrat-controlled state legislature are going to spend $50 million in taxpayer dollars to fight President-elect Donald Trump and defend illegal aliens.

As multiple historically devastating wildfires are ravaging Los Angeles while firefighters don’t even have enough water to make a dent in the problem, California Democrats are apparently more concerned with attacking Trump and prioritizing illegal aliens over their own constituents.

The California state legislature will be voting on this deal as soon as this week, and it is very likely that it will pass, as Democrats have a supermajority in the legislature. It appears that the legislature is rushing to pass the deal before Trump can be sworn into office on January 20.

Newsom first proposed the deal immediately after Trump beat Vice President Kamala Harris by a historic margin in November. The legislature was then called in for a special session starting on December 2 that was specifically convened to figure out a way to fight Trump’s agenda, including his planned mass deportations. The deal will allocate $25 million to fund the California Department of Justice’s fight against Trump’s agenda in court, while another $25 million will be allocated to protecting illegal aliens from deportation, detention, and so-called “wage theft,” according to Politico.

Ironically, the insanely radical California Democrats are arguing that Trump’s agenda is “extremist” — despite the fact that a clear majority of Americans supported his candidacy and thus his policies.

“This funding agreement cements California’s readiness to serve as a bulwark against Trump’s extremist agenda,” disgraced Senate Budget Chair Scott Wiener (D) claimed.

“Senate Democrats are particularly proud to provide funding for providers of legal aid services, which know our communities’ needs best and are best positioned to defend at scale the millions of individuals and families that will be impacted by the incoming Administration’s extreme agenda,” Wiener added.

Meanwhile, California Republicans are demanding that the state actually focus on important issues, and have called for a special session to deal with the wildfire response.

California Assembly Minority Leader James Gallagher (R) has spoken out about Newsom and his Democrat colleagues’ misplaced priorities.

“At a time when California should be laser focused on responding to the devastating wildfires in LA, Democrat lawmakers’ priority is creating a $50 million slush fund to hire government lawyers for hypothetical fights against the federal government and to defend criminal illegal immigrants from being returned to their home countries. The disconnect between what Californians need and what Democrats are focused on is astounding,” Gallagher wrote in a statement.
