There is a little something going on in the EV industry that is not getting a lot of attention.
At least it wasn’t until Sean Hannity started to talk about it.
Have you noticed that the newer EV models no longer have AM radio?
Silence!
EV manufacturers are starting to remove AM radio because they say there is a buzz that occurs.
So, rather than fix this alleged buzz, they are eliminating the band.
There are two issues with this.
First, emergency radio is on AM radio, and even Democrats are worried about that.
Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) stated, “Although many automakers suggested that other communication tools — such as internet radio — could replace broadcast AM radio, in an emergency, drivers might not have access to the internet and could miss critical safety information.”
He added, “The truth is that broadcast AM radio is irreplaceable.”
Secondly, there are quite a few conservative pundits that broadcast their shows on AM radio.
Hannity stated, “It’s not complicated to put in a radio system that allows you to have AM FM, Sirius XM, or the ability to plug in your own music from your own phone.
“And I think people want more options, not less options.
“And this would be a direct hit politically on conservative talk radio in particular, which is what most people go to AM radio to listen to.
“So is there a political component to it? Certainly feels like it.”
He continued, “People paid a lot of money for those signals, and they pay that money to, you know, the federal government [that] gives out these licenses.
“What’s the point if they’re going to take away a significant percentage of the population’s ability to even get the station they would listen to the most while they’re driving?”
It’s not a conspiracy if it’s true.
