We can now take one of Trump’s legal battles off the pile.
A PA judge has ruled against a plaintiff in one of the cases against Trump regarding comments he made about election integrity.
The judge ruled that Trump’s comments were covered under his presidential duties, therefore, he gets immunity in this case.
Sorry, James
The plaintiff, James Savage, was an election worker in PA.
His case claimed that Trump, among several other defendants, “conspired to defame him and place him in a false light by publicly and falsely claiming that he tampered with the 2020 Presidential election results.”
Savage took the narrative that even though Trump never used his name, voters in the state knew who he was, resulting in threats and blame for election fraud.
Judge Erdos stated, “Speaking to the public on matters of public concern is part of a President’s official duties. Indeed, the President’s use of the ‘bully pulpit’ to address the Nation has historically been an important feature of the office.”
Trump’s team responded to the ruling, stating, “We are pleased with the Court’s decision to honor the long-standing principle of Presidential Immunity.
“Today, the Court made it clear that it is well within the President’s discretion to address the integrity of our election without fear of liability.
“We expect that the rest of Mr. Savage’s claims will similarly be disposed of as they are without merit.”
I am thinking that is a precedent that Trump is going to need moving forward, as there are numerous cases filed against him and there are probably more to come.
