CNN Lands in the Hot Seat After Brazen Outright Lies

After Russia commenced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the leftist partisans at CNN ended up in the hot seat for telling brazen outright lies.

The war-mongers at CNN are gleefully discussing the possibility of outright war with Russia, but also realizing that they need to find a way to take the heat off of their beloved Joe Biden.

With their ever-decreasing popularity, mainstream media pundits are absolutely ecstatic over the idea of a new war. But, being stooges for the Democrat Party, they know that the war going down on Joe Biden’s watch does not look good. So, while many on the left twisted themselves into knots trying to tie the invasion to Donald Trump, two CNN employees jumped onto Twitter to push the most outlandish and insane theory yet: the January 6th Capitol riot is somehow to blame for Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

These two nutjobs were CNN White House correspondent John Harwood and CNN contributor Garrett Graff.

Here is Graff’s first insane tweet:

“One thing worth keeping in my mind today: There’s a straight line from Russia’s attack on the US election in 2016 to 1/6 to today’s new invasion of Ukraine. The chaos that Russia unleashed with the election of Trump weakened us to the point Putin feels confident invading Europe.”

Just a few minutes after the initial tweet, he doubled down on his insanity, pushing the left’s unproven and utterly ridiculous conspiracy theory that Russia — and not voters — made Donald Trump president in 2016.

“I wrote in 2017 that Russia’s election attack was probably the most successful intelligence operation in history, and today’s developments bear out just how much it changed the world stage and how much space it gave Putin to operate,” Graff tweeted.

John Harwood then jumped in, adding nothing to the conversation except to agree with his CNN co-worker’s insane ramblings.

He tweeted:

“another way of stating Garrett’s point:

the Russian thug now attacking Ukraine helped Donald Trump become president because he thought that would some day make this kind of attack easier to pull off.”

Of course, neither of these two could explain how January 6th is connected in any way to the invasion, but that’s why they work at CNN. If they had a real job, they might have to actually put effort into their ideas.

People on Twitter quickly called them out for their lunacy.

Mark Hemingway, Senior Writer at RealClearInvestigations, fact-checked Graff’s claims about 2016: “Just so we’re clear, there’s no evidence Russia changed a single vote in 2016. The idea Putin is some mastermind manipulating American politics for the last six years was invented by the pundit class to explain losing an election.”

“’Putin elected Trump to weaken America but waited 5 years til Biden was elected, which of course strengthened America, and then Putin decided to invade Ukraine’ this is seriously the logic they’re going with,” replied Michael Duncan.

One Twitter user wrote:

“1. Make Trump president.
2. Don’t attack Ukraine.
3. Wait until Trump is no longer president.
4. Attack Ukraine.

Does John Harwood (D-CNN) have any evidence that Trump, who is not president, made this attack easier to pull off?”

“Not even Simone Biles could execute this level of mental gymnastics,” wrote Jeff Charles, a journalist and contributor for RedState and LibertyNation, referring to the Olympic artistic gymnast.

“The logic here is quite stunning. Russia weakened America by helping Trump get elected… but somehow couldn’t capitalize on it until Biden was in the White House (even though Biden was also there pre-2016 when Putin took Crimea),” wrote Matt Whitlock, political commentator and former aide to Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT).
