During a Wednesday interview on ABC News, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo was called out for falsely claiming that a massive revision in job growth numbers — which was released by President Joe Biden’s Bureau of Labor Statistics — was fabricated by former President Donald Trump.
On Wednesday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics admitted that job growth from March 2023 to March 2024 needed to be revised downward by 818,000 jobs — the largest downward revision in decades.
Despite the fact that this data came directly from the administration that she works for, Raimondo had absolutely no clue that this had happened. During the ABC News interview, Raimondo was asked whether the abysmal jobs report could hurt Vice President Kamala Harris’ chances as the Democrat nominee.
ABC News correspondent Kayna Whitworth asked: “I am curious as to your thoughts on today, the Bureau of Labor [Statistics] saying that more than 800,000 fewer jobs were actually created than initially reported. And I — we have a soundbite here…because Donald Trump is already addressing this on the campaign trail.”
She then played a clip of Trump arguing that the Biden-Harris administration had padded the data so that they could brag about it despite their failing economy.

Raimondo responded with the Democrats’ favorite tactic — blaming Trump.
“No, when I hear that, first of all, I don’t believe it because I have never heard Donald Trump saying anything truthful,” she falsely claimed.
Whitworth then pointed out that the data was from the Biden administration, meaning that the Commerce Secretary should clearly be aware of it.
“It is, though, from the Bureau of Labor,” the correspondent said.
Raimondo stuttered out a weak response, stating: “I don’t, I don’t, I’m not familiar with that.”

Her ignorance was especially hilarious considering her comments from earlier in the week, where the Commerce Secretary said that what she hates the most about Republicans was that “they just peddle bulls—t.”
Meanwhile, Trump has been consistently calling out the Biden-Harris administration for the revision, deeming it a “MASSIVE SCANDAL!”
“The Harris-Biden Administration has been caught fraudulently manipulating Job Statistics to hide the true extent of the Economic Ruin they have inflicted upon America,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “New Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the Administration PADDED THE NUMBERS with an extra 818,000 Jobs that DO NOT EXIST, AND NEVER DID.”
“The real Numbers are much worse than that and, if Comrade Kamala gets another four years, millions more Jobs will VANISH overnight, and Inflation will completely destroy our Country,” he added. “YOUR LIFE SAVINGS WILL BE WIPED OUT. With a TRUMP VICTORY, we will once again have the Greatest Economy in History.”
