It looks like Joe Biden made a pretty big mistake on his Twitter account.
He actually took credit for something that was actually a negative.
After getting fact-checked by Twitter, the tweet was removed from the account.
No Context
On Tuesday, the White House sent out this tweet…
“Seniors are getting the biggest increase in their Social Security checks in 10 years through President Biden’s leadership.”
It sounds like Joe did something great for our elderly, right?
Well, that could not be more wrong.
The reason the checks were increased was because of the cost of living raise they were given.
This accounts for inflation, and with more than eight percent inflation, no wonder this was the biggest increase in 10 years.
Twitter fact-checkers were quick to point out that the increase was “due to the annual cost of living adjustment, which is based on the inflation rate.”
When White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about the tweet and its removal, she stated that “the point was incomplete.”
No, it was misleading, big difference.
She said the tweet should have noted that the drop in Medicare prices and the increase in checks means “seniors will have a chance to get ahead of inflation.”
That is one heck of a spin, but it is not remotely close to the original tweet.
No, what really happened here was Biden got caught making a bogus tout that he never thought he would be called out on… but he was.
