Nancy Pelosi Caved, GOP Wins!

The attending Physician of the US Congress, Rear Admiral Dr. Brian P. Monahan (USN) an Obama appointee, revised his “coronavirus pandemic guidance” and magnanimously to “allow fully vaccinated people to be maskless on the House floor”.  In light of this announcement Speaker Nancy Pelosi has caved to pressure and announced that mask wear will not be required for “fully vaccinated” people. Which is a win for the GOP… But where does that leave the Members of Congress who have not been, or WILL not be vaccinated?

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has angrily insisted for weeks that she would not lift the mask requirement on the floor at all until ALL members of Congress are vaccinated. Just a few weeks ago, when she was asked if she would lift the mandate in light of the new guidance from the CDC, Pelosi told CNN, “No. … Are they all vaccinated?”

Pelosi has admitted, though, that she does not know exactly who has gotten the shot. “It’s a matter of privacy who or who isn’t vaccinated,” she said at a press conference.

Congressman Brian Mast (R-FL) and  Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) have led the ongoing Republican protest against Pelosi’s mask requirements even after she imposed a fine in January of $500 for a first offense and $2,500 for a second offense. Mast tweeted, following the announcement “PELOSI CAVES. FREEDOM PREVAILS.”

Pelosi May Continue to Harass The GOP Though.

According to CSPAN’s Craig Caplan, Pelosi has said “All members and staff who have not been fully vaccinated are required to wear masks. And the chair would note that all members and staff may continue to wear masks at their discretion.” she further explained, “The (House) Sergeant at Arms is directed to enforce mask requirements consistent with this announcement.”

The Washington Examiner reported,

“It is not clear whether or how vaccination status will be checked for those not wearing masks on the House floor. Some representatives who were previously infected with COVID-19, such as Republican Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, have said that they do not need to get vaccinated because they have antibodies that will naturally fight off the virus.

In a bullet point addressing requirements for people who are not fully vaccinated, the new guidance states that “failure to wear a mask in the Hall of the House when required, unless under recognition, may be subject to fines imposed for violation.”

The House of Representatives is set to resume in-person sessions the week of June 21st, it remains to be seen if Speaker Pelosi will continue to inflict her despotic will on the approximately 55% of Republicans who have not been and likely will not be vaccinated.
