Biden Makes a Complete Fool of Himself

Joe Biden has once again made a complete fool of himself making yet another Civil War comparison. During a speech on July 13, he said that the January 6th rioters were worse than slave-owning Confederates in the Civil War because they breached the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

During a speech in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Joe Biden mocked Republicans for their attempts to pass election integrity legislation.

“The assault on free and fair elections is just such a threat — literally. I’ve said it before. We’re facing the most significant test of our democracy since the Civil War. It’s not hyperbole — since the Civil War. Confederates, back then, never breached the Capitol as insurrectionists did on January 6. I’m not saying this to alarm you. I’m saying this because you should be alarmed,” Biden stated.

Yes, Confederate soldiers never breached the Capitol. But the Civil War was the nation’s bloodiest war, when an estimated 750,000 people died. That is hardly a comparison to voter integrity legislation, or to an unarmed riot where only one person was killed.

According to reporting by Breitbart:

The only person who died as a direct result of violence in the January 6 riot was Ashli Babbitt, a United States Air Force veteran. She was unarmed when she was fatally shot by a Capitol Police officer as she climbed through a broken door into the Speaker’s Lobby.

Three other people who died had medical emergencies, and Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick suffered two strokes at the base of his brainstem as a result of a blood clot in an artery the day after the riot, Breitbart News reported.

Before his statement, Biden also claimed, in reference to Republicans, that “bullies and merchants of fear and peddlers of lies are threatening the very foundation of our country.”

“I never thought in my entire career I would have to say it,” Biden continued. “But I swore an oath to you and to God to preserve protect and defend the Constitution. That’s an oath that forms a sacred trust to defend America against all threats both foreign and domestic.”

Some on the left are claiming that Biden wasn’t comparing voter integrity legislation to the Civil War, and that he was just talking about the January 6th riot. Listening to the rest of the speech, it’s obvious that that is not true.

“Biden calls Georgia’s voting laws ‘vicious’ and ‘racially discriminatory,'” Townhall.com wrote in a tweet.

Apparently, according to Biden and the Democrats, the Republican Party is a domestic threat. Never mind the fact that the left has been rioting, burning down cities, attacking police officers, and killing people around the country for over a year now. Though the number of deaths and officer injuries caused by the BLM-ANTIFA riots haven’t been confirmed, there are several estimates:

  • “In early June, news accounts reported the number of people killed during the Floyd protests at roughly a dozen, or as many as 19” – PolitiFact
  • “At least 25 Americans were killed during protests and political unrest in 2020” – The Guardian
  • “More than 700 law enforcement officers have been injured on the job during nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd” – New York Post

Of course, the left doesn’t care about any of that. The only thing that matters is demonizing conservatives and trying to stop election integrity legislation. Characterizing Republicans and their election-related legislation as akin to the Confederates and the Civil War is just the latest attempt at a smear.

Rather than fighting fair, the left is fighting with fake narratives and cowardice. Biden’s comments come just one day after Texas Democrats fled their state to avoid voting on GOP election integrity measures. The lawmakers were seen “gleefully smiling en route to D.C. with a case of beer, which requires a photo ID to purchase,” Breitbart News reported.

GOP Response

“Biden says Trump supporters are worse than slave-owning confederates… but the slave-owning confederates were Democrats,” comedian and Washington Times columnist Tim Young tweeted.

“Joe Biden says that Trump supporters are worse than slave owning confederates. It’s ironic because Joe Biden was the one who gave the eulogy at KKK Leader Robert Byrds funeral,” wrote Brendon Leslie, journalist and founder of Florida’s Conservative Voice News.

“Joe Biden thinks that asking people to show ID to vote is the greatest threat to our nation since the Civil War. Let that sink in,” GOP Congresswoman Lauren Boebert wrote.

“The ‘worst challenge to our democracy since the Civil War’ is the Biden Administration’s attempts to stop state-ordered audits,” wrote Emerald Robinson, the White House Correspondent for Newsmax.

Kyle Becker, CEO of Becker News, pointed out Biden’s hypocrisy on undermining elections, as Biden and the Democrats continually screeched about Russian interference for the entire four years of Donald Trump’s presidency. On July 24, 2019, Joe Biden even tweeted that “we need a president who will… take immediate steps to ensure the security of our elections.”

Becker shared that tweet, writing: “Remember, undermining confidence in elections is literally the worst threat to democracy since the ‘Civil War.’ Right, @POTUS?”

“I saw civil war trending and was like ‘well, it was inevitable. Let’s get it over with.’ Turned out to just be Biden being a dingbat again though,” tweeted Cassandra Fairbanks, Editor-in-Chief of Timcast News and writer for The Gateway Pundit.
